How can On-Site Energy ltd help your food manufacturers protect themselves from volatile energy prices, while also delivering on sustainability objectives?
On-Site Energy ltd is an independent energy solutions provider working exclusively with energy intensive manufacturers to reduce costs and CO2 emissions. We identify and deliver innovative energy efficiency and onsite generation projects, which can be developed using an off-the-balance sheet financial model, requiring zero capital outlay.
The food and drink processing industry is amongst the most heavily affected industries by the energy crisis, with many businesses already operating on low profit margins. Recently, the UK’s largest supermarkets reaffirmed their 2030 supply chain sustainability commitments meaning suppliers will have to consider how they can reduce their CO2 footprint in order to keep their products on the shelves. However, for many organisations the necessary capital is simply not there to invest. Sustainability cannot come at the expense of losing financial viability.
So, where can On-Site Energy help?
Our process begins with adopting a data-led approach to analysing and understanding the clients’ energy usage. From this understanding we adopt a “best-fit” approach to match the best solutions for the biggest impact. We believe a holistic solution will deliver the best outcome. We are ‘technology agnostic’ and subsequently independent from any singular technology or vendor, meaning we are able to review the full range of technologies available to our client and agree upon the measures that will best suit the site’s needs. We will consider both energy efficiency measures (including equipment upgrades such as refrigeration or steam boilers) as well as energy generation on or near site, which are much more efficient than drawing from the grid.
Whilst we develop generation projects using technologies such as wind, solar and CHP, we also keep a very keen eye on the innovative technologies emerging on to the market such as high temperature heat pumps.
We understand that these measures can be very expensive and oftentimes not fit the required payback criteria to proceed. This is where our zero-capex energy partnership model can be very effective in unlocking your energy savings potential. Under this model, we agree the specification of the equipment with the client, pay to secure all necessary permissions and then fund the design, construction, and ongoing management of the assets without requiring any capital outlay. Instead, our customer pays for the output of the equipment on a metered basis, at pre-agreed fixed prices below the cost of their grid energy bills. So, delivering savings to the client while allowing us to make our returns. We can make things happen when otherwise they would be stalled. Reducing consumption and generating power onsite is important in reducing your operations’ carbon emissions and mitigating the exposure to volatile grid prices. Its also a key way to win favour with the supermarkets in achieving your carbon reduction goals sooner.
